Carrie Andrews, Assistant Democratic Leader
21st District (Rochester)
Committees: Human Services (RMM) , Ways & Means
Monroe County Legislator Carrie Andrews represents the 21st District, which includes parts of Northeast Rochester. Carrie was elected to represent the 21st district for a four year term in 2005. In October 2007 she was elected Assistant Minority Leader of the Legislature. She currently serves on the Ways and Means Committee along with the Human Services Committee. She is the youngest woman ever elected to the Monroe County Legislature.
Carrie brings a deep concern for educational and social justice to the Monroe County Legislature. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 2001, Carrie moved to Rochester from her home in Trumansburg, NY, about two hours south of Rochester. She is an active member of the social justice group, Metro Justice, and a member of the Monroe County Fishery Advisory Board and the Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation Board.
To fulfill a campaign promise, Carrie opened a district office at 1334 Culver Road. She is the first and only legislator to have such an office, and is particularly proud to say that no public funds are used in its operation. The district office helps to make government more accessible to the residents of the 21st District and is used to hold meetings with constituents, as well as to provide a gathering place for neighborhood groups.
Professionally, Carrie is focused on education. As a Labor Relations Specialist with New York State United Teachers, Carrie fights for educators throughout Upstate New York. Carrie Andrews live on Roseview Avenue in the City of Rochester.
